Early in her career the Indiana Associated Press awarded her “Best
Coverage of a Local Story” for reporting on corruption in the criminal
justice system of Lafayette, Indiana. Later, Linda worked in Chicago for the
United Press International Broadcast NewsWire, and joined all-news radio
stations owned by Mutual Broadcasting, Westinghouse Broadcasting and
top rated CBS owned WBBM News Radio 780.
Linda's byline appeared hundreds of times on UPI and AP broadcast news
wires with the wide variety of stories she covered. She has interviewed just
about every type of news maker including top business executives,
presidential contenders and even criminals.
Linda doesn’t pontificate. She describes herself as a “recovering reporter,”
and concerning training, says, “If you aren’t having fun you probably aren’t
learning anything.”
Her training philosophy is to constantly interact with the audience to keep
them engaged. She believes in short trainings to learn to deal with reporters
by thinking like them. Because Linda was a broadcast reporter she
condenses lots of information into an interactive and entertaining format that
doesn’t take all day.
Her students develop timeless skills in dealing with any type of reporter they
will encounter now or 30 years from now. At the end of one of her trainings
the CFO of a major mortgage company exclaimed, "Linda is the Media
Tiger!" Another executive said, "I learned more in the first 15 minutes
of her training than I have from years of other media trainings."
Linda is devoted to powerful communication. She has been a member for
20 years of Toastmasters International, the large non profit that trains
speakers and leaders. She is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), the
highest speaking and leadership designation. Only a few of the thousands of
Toastmasters achieve DTM.
She is a founder, past President and member for ten years of one of the rare
Advanced Toastmasters Clubs formed to mentor professional speakers and
trainers in Atlanta, Georgia.
Linda is a graduate of Purdue University where she began her broadcast
journalism career as an announcer on Purdue's WBAA Radio and she
reported for the Purdue Exponent newspaper.
